For those “Vampire Diaries” fans who can’t wait to sink their teeth into a brand new season, there’s even more on the menu. The spin-off series “The Originals” will debut this fall alongside its vampire counterpart on The CW. It will host the original vampires from Mystic Falls, including Klaus and Elijah. Same characters, same drama. Now in order to help prepare for the the double dosage of vampire carnage, here a few things to look for in the new series, “The Originals.”

“Vampire Diaries” fans are well aware that Klaus and Elijah clashed when they both sought after Katherine while she was human. Klaus was hungry for her doppelganger blood while Elijah formed a close relationship that encouraged him to protect her. However, Katherine then betrayed both brothers when she manipulated another vampire into turning her back. After centuries of living on the lamb, she finally rekindled her flame in Elijah, who then announced at the end of last season that he would be leaving Mystic Falls to be with his family in New Orleans.

To further complicate each other’s romances, Hayley’s pregnancy will throw yet another wrench between the two brothers.

“[Hayle is] by no means the Cinderella in the Klaus love story,” said executive producer Julie Plec. “Hayley is a girl who is pretty tough, fiery independent spirit. A survivor in her own right who got drunk, had sex and got knocked up. So she’s going to have her own journey. She’s not really meant to sort of be a threat to Klaus’ love life. If anything, she is sort of the portal into his redemption - one would hope.”

Once Hayley does have the child, Klaus might find her disposable. Elijah has fought for her life in the past, persuading Klaus to help her in the face of danger, so perhaps he will follow suit and get in between her and his brother’s malicious intents.

“The Originals” will return to The CW on Thursday, October 3.
