Despite his terrific performances in 2013, Neymar continues to draw harsh criticism. His latest critic was Australian striker Archie Thompson. However, the Brazilian not only fired back at the criticism of Thompson, but put on a terrific performance against his team when the teams sides met on Saturday.

Thompson told reports that he thought the 21-year-old Brazilian was overrated, but Neymar initiated fired back with a curt "What's his name?"

"He can say what he likes. I don't know him so I can't say anything good or bad. I hope he plays well but that our team beats his on Saturday," Neymar said according to Fox Sports. "I'm very happy for that comment," the 21-year-old said. "It's nice to have that recognition for the work I've put in for Chelsea and the national team. The most important thing is winning and being able to contribute the best I can."

Neymar's team did win and they won handedly as Brazil trounced Australia 6-0 in Brazilia. Neymar scored one goal and was instrumental in setting up a number of other ones.

Criticism was extremely high for the Barcelona man earlier in 2013. Englishman Joey Barton tweeted "Neymar is the Justin Bieber of football. Brilliant on the old You Tube. Cat piss in reality" back in April and former Brazilian great Romario stated that "Neymar can help Brazil to be champion, but I don't see him doing what I did in 1994, Pele in his three World Cups or Maradona in 1986."

However, Neymar responded with a tremendous performance in the Gold Cup during which he put up four goals and won the Golden Boot. His goal against Atletico Madrid earlier in the 2013-14 season helped Barcelona secure the Spanish Super Cup.
