New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills go into their home-opener game against New England with a rookie coach (Doug Marrone) playing a rookie QB (16th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft EJ Manuel) who is coming off a preseason knee injury and looking to turn the franchise's fortunes around. The Patriots have won 23 out of the last 25 meetings against Buffalo and QB Tom Brady is riding a 48-game consecutive streak with a touchdown.

Tennessee Titans at Pittsburgh Steelers
The Titans revamped their offensive line - adding former Buffalo Bills Adam Levitre and drafting University of Alabama's Chance Warmack with the 10th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft - in hopes of springing holes for All-Pro RB Chris Johnson. Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger is in his second year working under offensive coordinator Todd Haley's and has a healthier line in front of him with the return of guard David DeCastro and tackle Marcus Gilbert.

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints
Saints' coach Sean Payton returns to the sidelines after serving his suspension for his role in "BountyGate" with Rob Ryan as his new defensive coordinator. Drew Brees leads a high-powered offense that has allowed him to throw for over 15,000 yards in a three-year span (15,273 yards from  2010 to 12). Atlanta's offense is loaded at the skill positions with Julio Jones and Roddy White at wide receiver, Tony Gonzalez back at tight end, and Matt Ryan under center, making this  potentially a high-scoring, entertaining game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Jets
All-pro CB Darrelle Revis returns to New York, where he began his career, in his first game back since being traded to Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers feature second-year running back Doug Martin, who was third in the NFL with 1,926 yards from scrimmage, and WR Vincent Jackson. The Jets will start rookie Geno Smith at quarterback but will have WR Santonio Holmes only in a limited role. Holmes is still recovering from surgery to repair a severe Lisfranc injury in his left foot.

Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars
Andy Reid makes his debuts as head coach for Kansas City, who acquired Alex Smith to throw the ball to All-Pro WR Dwayne Bowe and hand the ball off to All-Pro RB Jamaal Charles. Jacksonville rookie head coach Gus Bradley has gone with Blaine Gabbert as his starting quarterback and will have RB Maurice Jones-Drew to help keep the pressure off of him.

Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers
The Seahawks, a preseason Super Bowl favorite, go into Charlotte with injuries on the defensive line. Luckily, Seattle plays the Panthers, whose leading rusher last year was quarterback Cam Newton. Newton rushed for 741 yards - four yards better than starting RB DeAngelo Williams - and must get help from the running game if the team is to improve. The Seahawks have no such problems with RB Marshawn Lynch running for 100 yards in eight of his last 10 starts.

Cincinnati Bengals at Chicago Bears
The Bears defense is among the stingiest in the league with turnover machines CBs Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings anchoring the secondary. Tillman led the league last year with 10 forced fumbles and Jennings with nine interceptions. The Bengals have gotten QB Andy Dalton and WR A.J. Green help after two consecutive years of first-round playoff exits drafting rookie RB Giovani Bernard to aid them with a deeper run into the playoffs.

Miami Dolphins at Cleveland Browns
In a battle of two second-year QBs, Brandon Weeden and the Browns host Ryan Tannenhill and the Dolphins. Weeden and RB Trent Richardson hope to make new offensive coordinator Norv Turner's life easier, as he transitions into his new role after years as San Diego's head coach. Tannehill has a new weapon in former Steeler WR Mike Wallace but has struggled to develop chemistry in the preseason. The Browns will be without WR Josh Gordon, who was suspended the first two weeks of the season for violating the league's drug policy.

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions
The Lions signed Reggie Bush hoping to build a running game in an offense that was very pass-heavy. Lions QB Matt Stafford set an NFL record with 727 pass attempts, most of them to WR Calvn Johnson - who broke Jerry Rice's single-season record for receiving yards with 1,964 yards - but went 4-12 for the season. The Vikings, on the other hand, signed former Green Bay Packer WR Greg Jennings and drafted University of Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson to help balancing their run-heavy offense that helped Adrian Peterson rush for 2,097 yards, nine yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson's NFL record for single-season rushing yards.

Oakland Raiders at Indianapolis Colts
Terrelle Pryor is expected to start for the Raiders, having outplayed Matt Flynn for the starting job in the preseason. The Raiders have also added veteran CB Charles Woodson to help bolster their secondary. The Colts do not have issues at quarterback with second-year phenom Andrew Luck under center but have replaced offensive coordinator / interim coach Bruce Arians with Pep Hamilton, who was part of the coaching staff at Stanford where Luck played college ball.

Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers
In a rematch from the divisional playoffs, the Packers are looking for some payback after 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick trampled the defense for 181 rushing yards in their 45-31 victory. Hoping not to repeat last year's mistakes, the Packers' coaching staff went to Texas A&M to learn better ways to stop the read-option offense. San Francisco is looking to return to the Super Bowl but will do it without WR Michael Crabtree, out after undergoing surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon earlier in the year.

Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams
The Cardinals hired coach of the year award-winner Bruce Arians - who guided the Indianapolis Colts, as interim coach, into playoffs last year, and traded for QB Carson Palmer, giving WR Larry Fitzgerald his best QB since Kurt Warner. The Rams led the league with 52 sacks thanks to defensive linemen Chris Long, Robert Quinn, Kendall Langford, and Michael Brockers. The Rams are hopeful QB Sam Stafford can a breakthrough year and lead the Rams to the playoffs, adding free agent TE Jared Cook and drafting WR Tavon Austin with their 8th overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys
David Wilson won the starting running back job for the Giants but will be without C David Bass and T David Diehl on the offensive line, who went down with injuries in the preseason. The Cowboys replaced Rob Ryan as defensive coordinator and hired Monte Kiffin, who has implemented a new 4-3 Tampa 2 scheme. Quarterback Tony Romo, who passed for a team-record 4,903 yards last season, is hoping to help snap the Cowboys' four-game home losing streak to the Giants.
