Romania and Hungary will contest second place in Group D when the two nations face off in the World Cup qualifiers on Friday.

First place in the group automatically moves on to the World Cup finals in Brazil next summer while second place has to battle in a two-legged playoff to earn a chance at the World Cup next year.

Netherlands currently occupies first place in the group with 18 out of 18 points and 20 goals in six games. Romania and Hungary currently occupy the second and third place in the group and have little hopes of catching the Dutch. Hungary currently occupies second place thanks to three wins, two draws, and one loss, while Romania has the same amount of wins, but one more loss and one fewer draw.

Hungary opened its tournament with a resounding 5-0 win over Andorra but fell 4-1 against the Dutch in their second match. In the third game of qualifiers Hungary got back on track with a 1-0 win over Estonia but wound up tying Romania 2-2 at home. In its most recent match, the team drew 1-1 with Turkey.

Romania started its tournament with a 2-0 win over Estonia, a 4-0 victory over Andorra, and a 1-0 win over Turkey. However, the team then lost 4-1 against Netherlands, tied 2-2 against Hungary, and lost 4-0 against Netherlands in its most recent match. Fortunately, the team does not have to play the Dutch again in this tournament.

Prediction: The two sides battle to a 2-2 draw.
