Salvation at last. “50 Shades of Grey” has been cast. After nearly a year of constant pain and turmoil, wild speculations can rest. We can all get some shut eye without vibrant images of potential actors running through our hearts, haunting our dreams and baning out existence. It’s over, at last. The drama has ended.

Are you kidding? This is “50 Shades,” and by no means do we live in a perfect world. Of course the drama continues. Those who are outraged that their favorites were not cast for the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele are livid. They want a recast, and in order to persuade E. L. James and Universal studios to do so, they’ve engaged in rampant Twitter backlash and even created a petition to have Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson, our brand new Christian and Ana, replaced by fan superstars Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel. Why can’t it just all go away? As of early Tuesday afternoon, only 24 hours after the initial announcement went viral, the petition has already received 6,664 online signatures.

In order to stunt the impending coup, producer Dana Brunetti took to twitter, saying, “there is a lot that goes into casting that isn’t just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc.”

“So if your favorite wasn’t cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective,” he tweeted, although his remarks did little to persuade the onslaught of distaste.

“@DanaBrunetti I hate you. #NoMattNoAlexisNoMovie,” wrote one enraged twitter fan.

@MissMarcel @DanaBrunetti PUT EACH OTHER INTO WOODCHIPPER AND THEN PUT YOURSELF IN,” wrote another.

And they keep on coming. Do you think Brunetti and the other producers made the right decision to cast Hunnam and Johnson?
