In 2004, the world witnessed perhaps the greatest Cinderella sports story of all time. Everybody loves a good underdog, and when the story is crafted with enthralling characters, down right dirty intentions and nonstop laughs, well that right there is a masterpiece.

"Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story" became an instant classic. It's one of those movies you watch time and time again. The humor never gets stale and the plot always succeeds in warming your heart. Back in April, the world was overjoyed to learn that "Dodgeball" would be returning for a sequel. People were overcome with jubilance. Now after months of silence, director Rawson Marshall Thurber provides more details on the film's second installment.

"It's not as easy as I think some people might imagine so. A lot of times behind this curtain, you start working on a movie, you get really close and then you say no," Thurber said during an interview with Den of Geek. "The you go over here, start working on another one, get really close and finally you get them to say yes, it all comes together, the curtains part, you come out and everyone says, 'where've you been?' I've been in the workshop trying to get them to say yes. So it's not for lack of trying and I hope to make my next movie very quickly."

Marshall spoke more on the difficulties of piecing a film together, taking his time to get to the root of the question. "I know Fox is interested in doing it," he said. "I'm not involved in it but, you know, I think I said everything I need to say about 'Dodgeball' in one movie."

In an ideal world, however, there are certain aspects of the original that he'd like to flesh out. "White Goodman is a person favorite character of mine, so I'd be interested in exploring that character more for sure. He's so funny and Ben's funny."

A release date for "Dodgeball 2" has yet to be announced, but we all pray that it's sooner or later. The word always needs more underdog stories to inspire hope, and a little dodgeball along the way never hurt anybody.
