The next generation of the Microsoft Surface tablets might see the "RT" moniker removed.

According to AdDuplex, while accessing its Windows advertisement network, a new pair of Surface tablets was discovered.

The advertising network stated it has "regularly" seen devices named "Microsoft Corporation Surface 2" and "Microsoft Corporation Surface with Windows 8.1" viewing its ads.

The "Microsoft Corporation Surface 2" is reportedly the successor of the Surface with Windows RT tablet.

"The first one definitely looks like a new device, but the second one theoretically could be just a change in what Surface Pro with Windows 8.1 installed reports," posted AdDuplex's Alan Mendelevich. "That said, as far as we can tell, the preview version of 8.1 didn't change the reported string. So it's either the RTM (or just a later build) that did that or it's a new version of Surface Pro altogether."

AdDuplex's findings come as Nokia is rumored to release its own version of the Windows RT tablet. According to Senior Practice Director Jeff Orr of ABI Research, the Nokia tablet will be known as the Sirius and feature a 10.1-inch screen. As for a potential release date, Sept. 26 has been rumored for the New York-based debut event.

In addition, the Surface with Windows RT and Surface with Windows 8 Pro is set to commercially release in 17 new markets. The 17 countries that will see the commercial release of the Surface tablets are Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
