Harry Styles has chosen to play it cool and remain a good sport after being humilated by his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift during Sunday's live taping of the MTV Video Music Awards.

When Swift accepted the VMA for Best Female Video for "I Knew You Were Trouble," she made sure to thank her fans, and direct a sacrastic sneer at Styles who she says inspired her to write the song.

"I also want to thank the person who inspired this song, who knows exactly who he is, because I got one of these," Swift said. "Thank you so much!"

Immediately, MTV panned the camera to Styles, who was visably embarrassed, and his One Direction bandmates, who seemed to jeer at Swift's veiled attack, reports the Daily Mail.

Later on in the show, the 23-year-old songtress was caught on video mouthing the phrase "Shut the f--k up" to her friend, singer/actress Selena Gomez, as Styles and the rest of One Direction were thanking their fans for being so awesome on stage. Immediately, a GIF of Swift saying the expleitve appeared online and went viral.

However, instead of retaliating against the country-pop star, Styles dismissed the jab as nothing more than a joke.

"I like a joke as much as the next guy, so it's all good," he told Extra. As for his post-show partying, "Yeah, I went for a drink with Ed ... and some friends. It was good," he said.

Swift and Styles called it quits in January after dating for just a few months. They began dating shortly after she broke up with 18-year-old Conor Kennedy. According to Us Weekly, the couple split while vacationing on the island of Virgin Gorda. After spending some time together, Styles decided to go off alone, got drunk and left Swift on their boat for hours. She was reportedly "crying and furious" at his disappearance, a source told Us Weekly. When he returned, they had a big fight and everything went downhill from there.
