Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is available now for MMO fans, but the game is already suffering some problems before and during launch, something the game and franchise cannot afford to have.

According to Joystiq, the game suffered some server issues during the early access period of the game. While this is a fairly common with MMO's, especially around the launch of a game, nonetheless it can develop into a serious problem (just ask the folks at EA about the Simcity launch disaster). However, an even bigger issue has arisen, with is much more serious than bust servers. One of the most critical features of the game is not working properly, as the character creation section of the game is reportedly not working properly. This effectively shuts out users from playing the game, as players cannot create new avatars to explore the game.

These errors pose a serious threat to the game, and Final Fantasy 14: A realm Reborn and Square Enix cannot afford to have a buggy product that could scare away fans who have already felt the sting of the previous Final Fantasy 14 disaster as well as those interested in checking out the revamped game. The problems are bad enough that Naoki Yoshida, the game's director, apologized for them in the game's official forums:

"The maximum expected population limit is nearing for each World, and unless the current World simultaneous connection amount decreases, we are unable to open release the limitation. In case we do release the limitation, there is a high chance that the corresponding World will crash or cause issues, and we are thinking that it will be difficult for us to release it for a while. We please ask you to consider playing in a World that has a low limitation. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause and ask to continue with your cooperation."

Clearly, this is not the best case scenario for the game, as new players will be unable to join the game unless older players leave. Square Enix gave no timetable for when the problem will be fixed, so users affected by this lockout will just have to wait and see what happens.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn was suppose to be the great reversal of fortune for the game, but it looks as though the game is more of the same initially. Look out for more information about the game as critics begin the process of reviewing the game.
