Spring has long come and gone. Summer is riding out its final week, but love is still in the air. With the cool autumn breeze comes the scent of new love, and for the world’s favorite vampires, it has the potential to blow old love into the past.
As fans know, it will be an interesting year for Damon and Elena, who finally announced their exclusivity toward the end of Season 4. But now that Elena is at Whitmore College while Damon remains stuck in Mystic Falls, new opportunities and temptations could lure Elena down a path we’ve seen her take plenty of times before.
According to E! Online, actor Shaun Sipos will join “The Vampire Diaries” Season 5 cast as Aaron, a college student who forms a strong bond with Elena. Although Delena will try their best to help their relationship flourish and continue going strong, the distance between them will slowly weigh heavy on their psyches.
Elena and Damon are certainly at the center of Season 5’s most enthralling love interests, however, there are plenty of others that have fans reeling for more juicy vampire romance, as Wetpaint points out.
Matt and Katherine are a hot topic, now that Katherine is human. He’s one of the only human left in Mystic Falls and has a history of linking up with ex-vampires who are struggling with their humanity. We all remember his fling with Rebekah. Could Katherine be next on the list?
What’s even more of a longshot, but still on the menu, is a potential relationship between Caroline and Jeremy. They have little, if any, history together, but now that Jeremy is the only link to Bonnie’s ghost, it’s likely that he’ll be spending more time with Caroline than he ever has in the past. You never know in Mystic Falls.
“The Vampire Diaries” returns to The CW for its fifth season on October 3.
