The trailer for "Divergent" will be released Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards.

MTV released a 20 second clip previewing the trailer to the upcoming Young Adult film adaptation. The clip showed images of stars Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Theo James and plenty of action. The network will premiere the new trailer ahead of the awards show during the red carpet at 8 p.m. EST. There are no details about which actors will be in the trailer.

The movie takes place in a future world where people are divided into factions based on personality. When teenager Tris is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group, she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents.

"Divergent" has already been called the new "Hunger Games." The film is one of the most anticipated of next year and is expected to launch another series of movies. Director Neil Burger recently revealed that he would be loyal to Veronica Roth's novel. He stated, "I added quite a few things back from the script that was first presented to me. I was like, 'Where's the zip-line? Where's Christina being hung over the chasm?' So we worked those back in, which the movie is stuffed full of events, but they're events that we love from the book. Obviously a movie is a little bit different than a book and certain things will be changed and people will be like, 'Where's the...' but mostly we have it in."

The director also added the film would fascinate audiences. "It has an incredible beginning, middle and end. There's an incredible journey Tris takes, an incredible journey society goes through-how it falls apart and goes into war. It just works," he said.

The movie also stars Miles Teller, Jai Courtney, Maggie Q, Ashley Judd and Ray Stevenson. Summit Entertainment will release "Divergent" on March 21, 2014 .
