The CONCACAF Champions League, considered the ultimate competition for the football clubs of North America, had a bland start for Mexican team Xolos of Tijuana. The team is placing its hopes on the second match on August 21 against Deportivo Victoria of Honduras to obtain its first three points.

The Tijuana team didn't score a single point in its first match as visitors against Honduran team Luis Ángel Firpo, leading to a tied game where both teams had the same chances to score.

But the Xolos team didn't back down due to the bitter result, and according Yucatán, some of its players acknowledged that getting just one point against an Honduras team is an achievement. Xolos' number 10, Fidel Martínez, said that in a tournament such as the CONCACAF Champions League it's very important not to fall in visiting matches. "We know that Honduras' football is high speed with lots of contact, and in short tournaments it's very important to get visitor points," Martínez said.

Meanwhile, midfielder Fernando Arce pointed out that the team has its objective and the motivation to get to the Club World Cup, a competition fought between the champions of the tournaments of the 6 confederations integrated in FIFA. "It's a great motivation for us because in the end you have a big reward to go to the Club World Cup and we take it very seriously: we want to be there," Arce said.

The next match is the first for team Deportivo Victoria in the 2013 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League, a match in which they seek their first victory playing as a local against the Mexican team.
