Some television series defy all odds. When it comes to reality shows, there's a general format to follow. Networks like The History Channel, Animal Planet and The Discovery Channel all host a handful of shows that provide insight into a particular slice of life unfamiliar to the majority of earth's inhabitants. You could say that "Deadliest Catch," a show that portrays the lives of Alaskan King Crab Fishermen, was the pioneer, as dozens of similar shows have followed since its debut in 2005. Most of these shows find a small niche audience, while others are completely passed over. One in particular, however, has defied all the odds and become one of television's most popular shows: "Duck Dynasty." Who would have thought?
Last week's season 4 premiere set the cable nonfiction-series record for most viewers ever with 11.8 million, and now the series continues to barrel forward. This week's episode, titled "So You Think You Can Date?" and features Martin as he searches for romance. A recently released preview shows the Robertson family ladies giving him valid and helpful advice while the guys torment his misfortunes. Typical. The issue? Martin may have to pass on the weekly poker game when a potential date presents itself.
According to TV Guide, Phil will also have his hands full as he babysits for Jep and Jessica. So how does he decide to pass the time with his granddaughters? He teaches them to fish, of course.
There's plenty of fun and turmoil to be had in the Robertson family during this week's episode. The majestic joys of fishing and good ol' comradery will surely provide plenty of laughs and heartfelt moments. After all, it is "Duck Dynasty."
