"Star Wars Episode VII" may be released in December 2015.

The latest film in the franchise is scheduled for a release in 2015 with many speculating that it will come out in the summer. However Badass Digest has revealed that a source close to Disney said the film would instead be pushed back to December. According to Badass Digest, "multiple sources have told me that right now Disney and Lucasfilm have December circled on their calendars, with a mid-month release - the 15th - being most likely. That would take 'Star Wars' out of the crowded summer and, more importantly, give JJ Abrams and company a couple more months to work on a movie that's already running a tighter schedule than most of the other 'Star Wars' films."

The 2015 schedule has become one of the most crowded slates in years. Disney is currently planning to release "The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron" and "Ant-Man." Other franchises including "Jurassic Park 4," "The Hunger Games Mockingbird Part 2," "Independence Day 2," "The Fantastic Four," and "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" are all also slated for release that summer. If Disney decides to release the film in December, the company will most likely profit from a less crowded schedule as the film will receive more attention.

The company has yet to announce any details as it promised at the D23 convention. Currently, J.J Abrams (Director), Kathleen Kennedy (Producer), Michael Arndt (Screenwriter) and John Williams (Composer) are the only people confirmed to work on the project. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are rumored to reprise their roles from the original series as are Anthony Daniels, Frank Oz and Ian McDiarmid.

Disney is slated to release the film in 2015.
