Mexican singer Belinda posted a controversial photo on her Twitter account this week in order to promote her upcoming concert in Mexico City's National Auditorium. The image, which shows Belinda covered in fake bruises as if she had just been the victim of a cruel attack or a very strong accident, was not well received by many on social media.

As soon as the singer uploaded the image to Instagram, which immediately shared it on her Twitter account, fans and followers started asking if the singer was alright. Belinda had originally posted the text "I've been through the worst accident imaginable, but I'm alive. Thank you life."

Fans and different media outlets in Mexico started to ask the singer about what exactly had happened, so Belinda was forced to clarify that the image was part of a publicity stunt for her upcoming concert in Mexico City

"This picture is part of the catharsis that we'll all go through together on August 16 in the National Auditorium! Hope I see you all there," the young singer wrote.

Most of her followes understood that it was all part of a stunt to gain attention for the upcoming concert but some though that the joke had gone too far and that she had genuinely made people worry about her well being.

One girl tweeted directly to Belinda: "You're a liar that plays with people's feeling I felt really bad when I though you were hurt," while another user wrote, "@belindapop: one day you'll really hurt yourself and no one will believe you."

Belinda then published a second picture in which she is seen again with injuries all over her face, but this time with a man who is also injured while they exchange glances. Belinda wrote, "I love art in all its forms ... We all have our catarisis and this is mine, I hope to see you on the 16 of August in the National Auditorium."

Today, Belinda seemed to apologize to all her fans who worried about her after she posted the picture. "My fans mean everything to mean and I never meant to hurt any of you. I love you all," the young star wrote.
