Chris Brown New Album: Rapper Says 'X' Could Be His Last

Controversial R&B artist Chris Brown may not want to face the music any longer.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the 24-year-old Grammy winner tweeted Tuesday that his next album, "X," may very well be his last record before he exists the music industry. "Don't worry mainstream America. After this X album, it'll probably be my last album," Brown wrote.

He added, "Being famous is amazing when it's for ur music and talent. I'm tired of being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18. I'm cool & over it!"

The "mistake" he writes about in the tweet is believed to be a reference to his now infamous arrest for domestic assault after he physically attacked his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, before the 2009 Grammy Awards. (Brown was actually 19 at the time, not 18, as he incorrectly tweeted.) The altercation and subsequent arrest prompted an immediate backlash. To this day, Brown's name is still connected to his turbulent and violent relationship with pop star Rihanna.

In July, a judge revoked Brown's felony probation that was a result of the 2009 assault. The judge set a probation violation hearing for Aug. 18.

Brown still cannot seem to stay on the right side of the law. On Monday, Brown turned himself him after he was pegged as a suspect in connection with a hit-and-run case. According to the booking report from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. obtained by E! Online, he arrived at the headquarters at 2:40 p.m. and was released less than one hour later.

Brown's Twitter followers have seen a string of despondent tweets from the singer as of late, such as, "Home don't feel like home. Too many empty rooms," and "Aspire to be great and the person you wanna be. Don't conform because ur worth is more than any money or status. We live. We die."

It remains to be seen whether he will really retire or if the sentiment is a fleeting feeling prompted by his momentary distress.

Regardless, Brown's sixth album, "X," will definitely debut on Aug. 20.
