The Mexican band Molotov announced that they will not to use the word "maricón" during their U.S. Tour, as a sign of solidarity with Esteban Navarro, the young Chilean who lost a leg after a reported homophobic attack in June 2013.

In a press release issued through social networks like Twitter, the group regretted the attack on the young homosexual, and announced that they will not stop playing the song "Puto" in their live performances.

"We are saddened by the recent attack on Esteban Navarro in Chile. This was an act of discrimination and hatred that cannot be tolerated and no one should be a target of violence because they are LGBT. As an act of solidarity with Esteban Navarro and the LGBT community, we are choosing to refrain from using the word 'maricon' in our song lyrics during our upcoming U.S. tour. This word was used by the Esteban's assailants in this pointless attack, and therefore, has no place in our set," said the band in the press release.

After GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) publicly requested the band to refrain from playing for considering it offensive, the musicians said they will not stop playing "Puto," a song that "just wanted to talk about the state of Mexico in the late 90s."

In an interview with The Associated Press, Paco Ayala, bassist of the band, said, "In every country where we have played since 1997, the year the song was released, we have made it clear that it is not an issue against gay community, and that on the contrary, is intended for those corrupt and coward politicians."

Molotov announced that part of the profits obtained from their new tour will be donated to LGBT organizations and the 19-year-old who was attacked June 23.
