The Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie features three first time Emmy nominees and two previous nominees. The race is wide open and therefore the award can go to any of following actors giving them their first Emmy award victory.
James Cromwell ("American Horror Story: Asylum"): Cromwell garnered his fourth Emmy nomination for his turn as Dr. Aruthur Arden. He was previously nominated for his work on "Six Feet Under," "ER," and "RKO 281. The veteran actor is best known for his work on "The Artist." "The Green Mile, and his Academy Award nominated performance in "Babe." He will next be seen in "The Trials of Cate McCall."
Zachary Quinto ("American Horror Story: Asylum"): Quinto received his first nomination for his work as Dr. Oliver Thredson. The actor has received praise for his work on the series and has also earned a nomination for the Academy of Science, Fantasy and Horror for Best Guest Starring role on television. The actor best known for his role as Spock in the "Star Trek" series and will next be seen in "The Invitation" and "You were Never Here."
Scott Bakula ("Behind the Candelabra"): Backula obtained his fifth nomination for his performance as Bob Black in Steven Soderbergh's last film. The actor was previously nominated four times for his work on NBC's "Quantum Leap." Bakula is best known for his work on "American Beauty," "Quantum Leap" and "Stark Trek: Enterprise." The thespian is slated to appear in "Elsa and Fred" and "Basmati Blues."
John Benjamin Hickey ("The Big C. Hereafter"): Hicky is a first time Emmy nominee who is being recognized for his performance as Sean. The actor is best known for his work on Broadway and has won a Tony award for his performance in Felix Turner "The Normal Heart." He has also been in the TV series "Hannibal," and will appear in the upcoming TV movie "Blink" and in "My Eleventh."
Peter Mullan ("Top of the Lake"): Mullan received his first Emmy nomination for his role as Matt. The British actor has become one of Scotland's most acclaimed actors. He appeared in "War Horse," "Trainspotting," "Children of Men" and "Tyransaur." Mullan received multiple awards for his work in "Neds" and "The Magdalene Sisters." He will next be seen in "Sunshine on Leith" and "Sunset Song."
Prediction: The category can easily go any of these actors. However, based on the popularity of the movie and the fact that he has been nominated before, Scott Bakula could easily take home the award for "Behind the Candelabra."
