While many gamers are focusing on the next-gen versions of Call of Duty: Ghosts, some are just as excited for the current versions of the game coming out Nov. 5. Now, Activision, as part of the announcement for continued support of the system, has confirmed that Call of Duty Ghosts will be appearing on the Wii U at the same time that the PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360 versions of the game are set for release, according to Gamespot.

Obviously, the Wii U version of the game will have some unique features because of the console's variety of controllers and motion controls. The game will support the Wii Remote and GamePad, meaning gamers will potentially be able to play Call of Duty: Ghosts on the handheld device, which may be a big selling point this version will have over the other iterations that will be available. However, Activision did not elaborate about the Wii U version of Call of Duty: Ghosts, so much of the game remains a mystery.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the biggest title of Activision's that was announced for the Wii U, with other titles such as the Angry Birds Trilogy and SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge being announced for Nintendo console. Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg explained the move:

"As we have said before, we're committed to doing everything we can to support the Wii U, which is why we're excited to be bringing some of the most popular entertainment franchises in the world to the platform this year."

It will be interesting to see how well the Wii U version of Call of Duty: Ghosts sells compared to the current generation versions of the game, as well as the next-gen versions that the Wii U is technically a part of.

Call of Duty: Ghosts has a single-player campaign written by an Oscar-winning screenwriter, which should help the Wii U versions of the game sell more. After all, the Wii U has a limited online capacity, so it is doubtful that the game's famed multiplayer modes will be included. But if the single-player is as good as Activision says, then Wii U owners may not care about the potential downgrade in online modes and graphics.
