Google Nexus 10 Update Release Date: Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Rolls Out, Brings Minor Changes

Owners of the Google-branded Samsung Nexus 10 tablet can now count themselves among an elite group of Android users with an official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update available starting Wednesday.

Google lifted the wrapping off Android 4.3 for the first time Wednesday at an early morning event in San Francisco dubbed "Breakfast with Sundar Pichai." The search giant then quelled fears about how long it would take to become available to the public, stating that it's currently making its way around the airwaves. Interested parties simply have to go to Settings > About Phone > Check for updates. As with all OTA rollouts, not every Nexus 10 will receive Android 4.3 immediately, although everybody should over the next couple weeks, if not sooner.

The Samsung Nexus 10 is the only device other than the LG Nexus 4 and ASUS Nexus 7 receiving an OTA Android 4.3 update at this time, although many manufacturers are promising they will be more vigilant this Android cycle.

Android 4.3 is a rather incremental update, and we'll have to wait until November for the big Android 5.0 "Key Lime Pie" refresh. Android 4.3 offers more parental options with a new restricted user profile feature that builds upon the multiple user accounts introduced in Android 4.2. Users state that Android 4.3 is faster than previous versions, which shouldn't come as a surprise as Google is constantly attempting to make the interface look and run smoother. Nifty new coding allows for 1080p video streaming, and developers should have an easier time creating visually stunning apps for Android.
