Apple's iPhone 5S smartphone is reportedly facing "production difficulties" and it may hinder its launch.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, according to Apple Insider, stated the smartphone likely known as the iPhone 5S is encountering "numerous components" setbacks during its production process.

As a result, the iPhone 5S may be available in limited supply following its projected late September launch.

"While shipments forecasts may still grow sharply in 4Q13, we are concerned iPhone 5S may face the same problem as its predecessor, namely that by the time supply matures, demand will already have waned, hurting shipments," wrote Kuo.

Kuo also commented on the low-cost iPhone and how it may launch ahead of the iPhone 5S. According to Kuo, a less complicated production process may result the low-cost iPhone to launch in early September with approximately 26 million units shipped for 2013. The number of units for the low-cost iPhone is less than the forecasted iPhone 5S figures, which Kuo has at 32 million units.

He added that the low-cost iPhone may be priced between $450 to $550.

In regards to the late September launch for the iPhone 5S, it was a sentiment shared by Jefferies analyst Peter Misek. As Latinos Post reported, he stated the next Apple smartphone is likely to launch in late September or early October. In terms of overall iPhones, Misek projects Apple to order 25 million iPhone 5S units while the low-cost iPhone may range at 20 million units.
