Apple has launched an update for the MacBook Air's mid-2013 models.

Labeled as "Software Update 1.0" and with a file size of 3.35MB, the update fixes an issue in "rare instances" that causes a loss in wireless connectivity.

The software update also improves a screen flickering issue seen on Adobe Photoshop and audio volume fluctuation during video playback.

The fix for the audio volume fluctuation comes about a week after Latinos Post reported on MacBook Air users complaining about the matter on Apple Support Communities.

Sumner89 started the thread on June 21, stating, "I have just purchased a new 2013 13" MacBook Air, and the volume seems to fluctuate by itself when I play back any videos. Does anybody know what causes this? Is there a fault with my Mac?"

The wireless connectivity issue was another topic Latinos Post reported on June 20. MacBook Air owners have reported about connection dropping out despite signal showing full strength or failed to recognize Wi-Fi in a close location.

The operating system required to download the update is OS X 10.8.4 build version 12E3067.

The new MacBook Air made its debut at the 2013 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June along with the confirmation of iOS 7, OS X Mavericks, iTunes Radio, and Mac Pro.

"MacBook Air is the industry leader for thin and light notebooks, and now with longer battery life, we've set the bar even higher," said Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller, in a prepared statement. "With faster flash, more powerful graphics and up to 12 hours of battery life, the new MacBook Air packs even more performance into the portable and durable design our customers love."
