The Mystic Falls vampires are back. Well not exactly, but the actors have returned to the set to begin filming the upcoming fifth season of "The Vampire Diaries." A recent photo from Nina Dobrev featured Candice Accola on Whitmore College campus for day one of shooting and details from the set are already pouring in.

For starters, a mysterious lady vampire is on her way to Mystic Falls. Previous rumors hinted that she may be one of Stefan's numerous exes, after all they start to rack up after centuries of existence, but she's actually in town to meet with Silas, according to TV Guide. If you're thinking that the reunion won't end well, you're probably right.

Speaking of the actual Stefan, executive producer Julie Plec recently revealed that his stay at the bottom of the lake would be rather unpleasant.

"He'll drown, wake up, drown again, wake up again," Plec said. "You'll see what amount of psychological damage it does on him."

Now with Silas as Stefan's doppelganger, he'll wreak havoc on Mystic Falls and the vampires. What else is new. His presence will cause trouble for Damon and Elena. "With Elena heading off to college and her boyfriend back home, the return of Stefan - who's not really Stefan - throws a wrench into things," Plec added.

As for the newcomer, it's unclear whether or not she's Tessa, another recent addition to the "Vampire Diaries" cast. Tessa is a "nobleman's daughter" and has spent centuries looking for the Salvatore brothers and has no interest in rekindling a lost romance. She'll make her debut in episode 3. Right off the bat she'll shake things up when she steals Damon's daylight ring. Uh oh. Hopefully this won't complicate things between him and Elena, but who are we kidding, of course it will. She will play one of Stefan's former squeezes, but is she the one who will link up with Silas? Fans will just have to wait and see.

"The Vampire Diaries" returns to The CW October 10.
