ABC Family's drama of the summer "The Fosters" is in full swing, with seven episodes of its freshmen run already under its belt. In the show's last episode, called "The Fallout," twins Jesus (Jake T. Austin) and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) came head-to-head after Mariana's drunken confession to Jesus' girlfriend's parents that they had had sex.

But tensions weren't just running high for Jesus and Mariana, Callie (Maia Mitchell) got a visit from her past when Liam (Brandon Jones) arrived at her school to threaten her. The incident forced boyfriend Wyatt (Alex Saxon) to take matters into his own hands, worsening the already dire issues between Callie and Liam. While Callie struggled with her past, foster brother Brandon (David Lambert) rose to the challenge and helped Callie admit that Liam had raped her a couple of years past.

As if Mariana's betrayal wasn't enough to drive a wedge between the twins, Jesus' girlfriend Lexi (Bianca A. Santos) ran away from home when her parents threatened to send her to boarding school. Her disappearance forced her parents to admit to moms Lena and Stef that they were in the country illegally, thus preventing them from going to the authorities to find Lexi. Thankfully, Jesus and were able to convince Lexi to return to her parents.

In the show's upcoming episode, entitled "Clean," tensions between Lena (Sherri Saum) and Stef (Teri Polo) may remain high when Lena's ex-girlfriend Gretchen (guest star Necar Zadegan) pays a visit. ABC Family teases, "A visit from Lena's beautiful and sophisticated ex-girlfriend reveals a secret yearning Lena has hidden from Stef for the past 10 years."

Things will be rough for the kids as well. ABC Family continues, "Meanwhile, Brandon stuggles to please his demanding new piano teacher and rebuffs an offer from Talya (Madisen Beaty) to reconnect." To say that things ended badly between the two teens is an understatement, but the situation allows foster sister Callie to return the favor and be there for him.

"When an embarrassing video of Tayla circulates around the school, Callie lends her support and urges Brandon cut her some slack," ABC Family's promo continues. Meanwhile, Stef will also have to deal with ex-husband Mike's (Danny Nucci) mounting drinking problem.

The twins won't escape the episode without some drama of their own. While Mariana has attempted to keep her druggie birth mom at bay, Jesus is forced to intervene. ABC Family teases, "Mariana and Jesus go to tell Ana (Alexandra Barreto) to leave Mariana alone. The encounter with his birth mom and her desperate situation drive Jesus to take matters into his own hands, a move that could have dire consequences for the whole family."

Could Jesus be getting himself into trouble to help out his drug-addicted mother, or will he lean on moms Stef and Lena for help?

"The Fosters" S1E8, "Clean," airs on Monday, July 22 at 9 p.m. on ABC Family.
