Autopsy results on the death of actor Cory Monteith are finally out and the British Columbia coroner has confirmed the cause of the Glee star's passing.

According to the media release issued by the Vancouver Police Department, the 31-year-old actor died from a toxic mix of drugs and alcohol.

"Post-mortem testing, which included an autopsy and toxicological analysis, found that Mr. Monteith, aged 31, died of a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol," confirmed the British Coroners Service in the report released on Tuesday afternoon.

Monteith was found dead in his hotel room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in downtown Vancouver on July 13, Saturday. According to the police report, the star checked into the hotel on July 6 and was expected to check out on the 13th. When he missed his checkout time, hotel staff checked his room and found his deceased body.

"It should be noted that at this point there is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith's death was anything other than a most-tragic accident," the release explained. "The BC Coroners Service will not be providing any further details or responding to inquiries concerning the circumstances of Mr. Monteith's death until the full investigation has concluded."

However, Vancouver Police Department media relations officer Brian Montague has confirmed the coroner's report, noting that signs of overdose were found in the hotel room.

"There were indications in the room that this was a drug overdose," Montague said in a press briefing on Tuesday, as reported by USA Today. "We're not providing exactly what we found at the scene. Anything that was found at the scene would be evidence."

Montague also noted that the star's last days were spent with three people -- a man and two women. The four were out the night before Monteith's death. So far, police have already talked to the three and were reportedly very cooperative.

As for Cory's family, the police hopes the media will allow them privacy as they go through this very tough time.

"On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time," the police media release noted, adding that "The BC Coroners Service expresses its sincere condolences to Mr. Monteith's family and friends."

The report also noted that further investigations will succeed the autopsy and initial findings, and a Coroner's Report will again be issued once the entire process has been concluded.
