Cirque du Soleil has announced that it will resume performances of its "Ka" show in Las Vegas, after the program was shut down last month when one of its acrobats died during the closing scene.

According to a report from the Associated Press, the show will resume on Tuesday. However, the final aerial battle scene in which 31-year-old Sara Guillot-Guyard died will be omitted. It will be replaced with a "dressing ritual" scene that will maintain both the show's storyline and the 90-minute timeframe. Tuesday's performance will be dedicated to the late Guillot-Guyard.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Guillot-Guyard died after falling 90 feet during the final portion of the performance. According to reports, she was still in her harness when she died. The Clark County coroner's office ruled that the acrobat died due to blunt-force trauma and her death was ruled accidental.

An additional investigation led by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has commenced and is expected to take up to six months to complete.

The decision to resume the show, which is performed at the MGM-Grand in Las Vegas, was made after a consultation between production artists for the show and other staff members. These individuals are also behind the decision to dedicate Tuesday's show to Guilot-Guyard's memory, according to MGM spokesman Renee-Claude Menard.

At the last performance, audience members who witnessed the accident thought it was part of the performance at first, but according to reports, they realized it was a tragedy when they heard cries from other performers. It's reported that the show momentarily continued, then stopped. Soon after, a recorded announcement asked the audience to leave the theater, and explained that refunds or vouchers for future shows would be made available.

Guillet-Guyard was a Paris-born French Citizen, Las Vegas resident and mother of two. She had been part of the original cast of "Ka" since 2006, and had been performing acrobatics for the past 20 years. The MGM-Grand says this is the first time in the company's 29-year history that a performer has died during an on-stage accident.
