More and more is pouring in from production on the ninth and final season of "How I Met Your Mother." The finale is served bittersweet. Season 9 will tie up all loose ends as the Mother is introduced to the gang one by one, but it also marks the end of an era. The show is regarded as one of the best and most popular comedy sitcoms of all time. After eight seasons, fans still can't get enough. They've been sitting and waiting through the summer months desperately waiting for its return. Now with several months remaining, they remain resilient, digging up any details they can on the final season.

In most recent news, TV Line reveals that Sherri Shepherd will appear in the hour-long season premiere during an altercation with Marshall. The talk show co-host/actress posted a photo on her Twitter indicating that she will appear in the first episode in scenes with Jason Segel, who plays Marshall.

"On the set of 'How I Met Your Mother' working w my baby Jason Segel #living a #dream," she wrote.

As previously reported, the premiere episode is titled "The Locket" and will introduce a potentially new female character with ties to Marshall. Camille, somewhere between her 30s and 40s, is seated next to Marshall on a flight from Minnesota to New York City, where she becomes so annoyed with his behavior that it sparks a feud and, unsurprisingly, they're both escorted off the plane prior to takeoff.

Could Shepherd play a discouraged stewardess who plays a role in his expulsion from the aircraft? Fans will have to wait and see. Either way, Shepherd and Segel are sure to make for an uproariously hilarious scene, which should further fuel fans' excitement for the season 9 premiere.

"How I Met Your Mother" will return to CBS September 23.
