Microsoft has rolled out the July updates for the Surface with Windows RT and Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablets.

For the first time in the Surface with Windows 8 Pro's update history, Microsoft provided no product updates for the Pro variant. The last update for the Surface with Windows 8 Pro was issued in June, solely focused on the LifeCam driver.

Microsoft did issue one update for the Surface with Windows RT. The July update, released on July 9, is a firmware update aimed to "enhance system performance and reliability."

An updates notification should automatically appear on the Surface tablets, but users can manually install the updates. To manually install the firmware update, for either variant of the Surface tablets, first, swipe from the right edge of the display and then tap or click "Settings." Next, select "Change PC settings." Then, under PC settings, tap or click "Windows Update." Finally, tap or click "Check for updates now." Restarting the Surface after the updates may be necessary to complete installation.

The update comes a day after Latinos Post reported on the 64GB model of the Surface with Windows 8 Pro selling out last weekend, but Microsoft has since issued new stock as of Monday afternoon.

As Latinos Post reported, the 256GB model of the Surface with Windows 8 Pro is available at CDW.com, an official vendor of Microsoft. CDW has priced the 256GB tablet-only model at $1,199.99 with the option of paying $37.44 per month. The 256GB Surface with Windows 8 Pro first made its launch in Japan in June. The tablet's cost in Japan is 99,800 Yen, which converts to U.S. $1,187.
