Apple is reportedly set to announce the fifth-generation iPad this September, however, the iPad mini may be experiencing production issues.

Citing "supply chain sources," DigiTimes reported Apple is expected to reveal the iPad 5 in September, a year after the confirmation of the iPhone 5.

The report noted that "upstream suppliers" have "mostly finished" production of the next 9.7-inch tablet, and it is unlikely Apple would issue specification changes.

The features rumored for the iPad 5 include a thinner bezel design for a larger viewing area, one LED tube, improved battery longevity, and the continuation of Retina Display.

According to sources, Apple is expected to set shipments by the end of July or early August.

In regards to the 7.9-inch iPad mini 2, Apple is reportedly still debating whether to add Retina Display. Sources added that the addition of Retina Display might delay the iPad mini 2's launch to the end of the fourth quarter of 2013.

As Latinos Post previously reported, KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo stated the iPad mini 2 would face challenges due to the addition of Retina Display. According to Kuo, the display panels may prove to be a challenge for manufacturers, thus, leading to delay shipments.
