The HTC One finally received its much-anticipated Android 4.2.2 update last week, and while it was good news for owners worldwide, the update was initially limited to only a couple countries. Luckily, now it seems like the upgrade is rolling out in more countries than before.

The first Android 4.2.2 update was spotted arriving on the dual-SIM variant in China back on June 28. Soon after, single-SIM models in Taiwan got their taste of Android 4.2.2. Now, users in Europe are stating that they are receiving Android 4.2.2. While Latinos Post could find no mention of specific regions other than Russia, the general consensus is that the update is available for download in Europe, albeit in a staggered fashion. Those in Europe interested in acquiring the update should check for its availability by going to Settings>About phone>Check for updates.

As with all over-the-air (OTA) updates, this is no surprise. Whenever a firmware is distributed OTA, it tends to be released in batches, meaning some will get it before others. There's no real science to this other than the minds behind the distribution force at HTC, so it's important to be patient.

Americans, as usual, will have to wait much longer, especially if their HTC One is tied to a carrier.

Android 4.2.2 won't bring a complete refresh to the HTC One experience like Android 4.1 Jelly Bean brought to devices running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but it does finally put the HTC One on par with rival Samsung's Galaxy S4 smartphone, which released with Android 4.2.2 already installed. Samsung is already hard at work on an Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S4, and if HTC wants to reverse its slouching sales, it's going to have to push out Android 4.2.2 faster than it is at the moment.

Let us know if you've received Android 4.2.2 for your HTC One and where you are located in the comments section below.
