It wasn't too long ago that HTC announced it would completely stop supporting the popular HTC One S smartphone with new Android firmwares. The decision, it seems, has caused quite an uproar.
What this translates to owners of the One S is: no new Android 4.2.2, and no new version of HTC's Sense user interface.
"We can confirm that the HTC One S will not receive further Android OS updates and will remain on the current version of Android and HTC Sense. We realize this news will be met with disappointment by some, but our customers should feel confident that we have designed the HTC One S to be optimized with our amazing camera and audio experiences," said an HTC spokesperson earlier this week.
In response, HTC One S owners have created a petition, asking HTC CEO Peter Chou to resume updating the handset.
The petition reads, "This goes against all the HTC and it's CEO Peter Chou has said about the handset and the company strategy."

It seems that quite a lot of people are upset about HTC's move, creating even more PR damage at a time when HTC's customer support is waning. The once-popular smartphone manufacturer has experienced a dip in sales against more aggressive competitors like Samsung.
Owners of more popular HTC One X handset, on the other hand, will be receiving Android 4.2.2 along with a new version of Sense.
