Mexican website Sinembargo.mx has revealed an audio recording in which Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and his estranged partner Maritza Diaz speak about their son Diego.

The piece in which the audio appeared was written by controversial journalist SanJuana Martinez.

During the audio, Peña Nieto is heard telling Diaz that he appointed current Treasury Secretary Luis Videgaray as a middleman between both of them. The telephone conversation is believed to have taken place between March 2012 and January 2013.

In the audio, the woman seems bent on complaining to Peña Nieto about the lack of attention he has given Diego, who is now nine years old and is a product of an extramarital affair between the two.

This is not the first time Diaz has made her problems with Peña Nieto public. On April 5, 2012 the woman uploaded a picture to Twitter in which she appears with both the current Mexican president and her son. Next to the picture she wrote: "Only Enrique Peña Nieto and I know the kind of relationship we had for nine years."

A month later, Diaz claimed that Peña Nieto was an irresponsible parent and accused him of asking her to leave the country for the upcoming elections. "He asked me to take a 6 month trip to the US while the elections took place", the woman wrote on Twitter.

"I never said not you do not recognize him publicly @EPN, I said you haven't recognized him in front of American authorities. Please streamline this process and don't hurt us with your actions and your words" Maritza told the president via Twitter.

On June 3, 2013, Díaz uploaded a YouTube video in which she publicly asked the president for five minutes to discuss the child that they had during an on again off again relationship.

"You have publicly spoken in favor of dialogue, why not do it for our son?" Diaz Hernandez questioned.
