The Boston Bruins lost the Stanley Cup on Tuesday after a six game series against the Chicago Blackhawks. Here are reasons why Boston lost the series.

Blown Leads

The Bruins held a 3-1 lead in Game 1 and wound up blowing it on the way to losing 4-3 in triple overtime. The team then came back with two straight victories and a chance to take a stranglehold on the series in Game 4 at home. However, the Bruins imploded in Game 4 and conceded six goals. After losing Game 5, Boston held a 2-1 lead with a little over a minute remaining in Game 6. However, the team gave up the tying goal with 1:16 minutes left and then gave up the winner just 17 seconds later.

Zdeno Chara Implodes

The Captain scored four points in the series but was on the ice for far more Chicago goals in the series. He was a combined -6 in the final three games of the series and was constantly outdueled by the duo of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews.

Lack of Scoring From Top Players

After combining for six points in Game 1, the David Krejci-Milan Lucic-Nathan Horton line combined for just seven points in the final five games. The Krejci line was constantly matched up against the Toews line and constantly lost the battle. In addition to the absence of the top line, the Bruins suffered from a lack of secondary scoring from such vital players as Brad Marchand. Marchand finished the postseason with 13 points, but failed to tally a single point in the final series; he scored 19 points during Boston's 2010-11 championship-winning season.
