The world is shocked after James Gandolfini's sudden death. "The Sopranos" star reportedly suffered a massive heart attack in Italy on Wednesday, where he was scheduled to attend a film festival.

The beloved actor is famously known for portraying Tony Soprano on the critically acclaimed HBO series. According to the Associated Press, Gandolfini was visiting his family's native country with his son, Michael. Since the sad news was confirmed by his managers Mark Armstrong and Nancy Sanders, the celebrities have expressed their support and heartfelt sentiments on Twitter.

The Mexican-native actress Anjelah Johnson, who in August last year shot a yet-to-be-titled film with Gandolfini for director Nicole Holofcener, said on Twitter: "I was so blessed with the opportunity to work with such an amazing guy. I just did an interview recently where I talked about how I don't get star struck very often but when I met James Gandolfini I completely choked. I couldn't think of anything funny or clever to say, I just stared. He had this powerful presence about him. It wasn't until he called me out on my 'quietness' that I finally broke out of it and we joked and laughed and hugged for the rest of the shoot. Wow. I don't know what to say. Please say a prayer for James Gandolfini's family".

Colombian fashion journalist and critic Nina García wrote "'Good writing will bring you to places you don't even expect sometimes'. R.I.P James Gandolfini".
