Microsoft is reportedly working on the next series of Surface tablets using new Qualcomm Inc. chips.
According to Bloomberg, people familiar with the matter stated new variants of the Surface tablet will be based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors with the aim to deliver fast wireless data connections.

Although the source claimed Microsoft will utilize Qualcomm's processors, the Redmond-based organization will continue to use Nvidia's Tegra chips as seen with the current Surface with Windows RT models.
Microsoft, Qualcomm, and Nvidia have declined to comment on the report.
The report comes as Microsoft is reportedly collaborating on special offers with the Surface with Windows RT tablets such as donating 10,000 units for the International Society for Technology in Education next week. Microsoft has also slashed the prices for the Surface with Windows RT for education institutions as of June 17 to August 31.
As Latinos Post reported last month, the International Data Corporation (IDC) stated Microsoft shipped 900,000 units of the Surface tablet. The unit figures equate to 1.8 percent of the first-quarter market share for 2013. The percentage represents both Surface with Windows RT and Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablets, however, IDC noted most of the shipments were of the latter.
