It looks like there's bad news on the Samsung Galaxy S3 home front as Samsung is reportedly delaying the much-wanted Android 4.2.2 update for its 2012 flagship handset.

Website SamMobile, the same one that leaked an Android 4.2.2 build for the Galaxy S3, is now saying that the upgrade won't roll out until later due to bugs with the Galaxy S4-inspired TouchWiz interface. The same applies for the popular phablet, the Galaxy Note 2.

"Samsung delayed 4.2.2 for Note II and S III. Reason new TW for S III and Note II," SamMobile tweeted on June 11.

Samsung has not confirmed the report, and even SamMobile's track record is quite impressive, it's still best to stop yourself short of cursing the South Korean electronics manufacturer in vain.

The Android 4.2.2 update for the Galaxy S3 was expected to come out in June, and SamMobile leaked a test Android 4.2.2 firmware back on May 20. The delay may come as a surprise since in the same report detailing the leak, SamMobile also said that, "We have fully tested this firmware and this firmware works perfectly as any other official firmware."

The new TouchWiz UI which is at the heart of the delay will borrow heavily from the Galaxy S4. Samsung has demonstrated a habit of doing this, updating the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S2, and Galaxy Note to be more in line with the Galaxy Note 2, the latest and greatest Samsung device at the time. The company looks to do the same, bringing as many of its beloved handsets up to the Galaxy S4 interface experience.

Does the Android 4.2.2 delay frustrate you enough to opt for a newer handset? Or will you wait this out?
