T-Mobile HTC One owners began receiving an update earlier this week, and while details have been slim about what the new firmware brings to the table, it looks like it fixes the capacitive button issue that many HTC One owners have been complaining about.

The update rolled out starting June 3 and brought the T-Mobile HTC One Android 4.1.2 software up to version 1.27.531.8. According to the official T-Mobile support documents for the update, the only major improvement listed is "Visual Voicemail performance." HTC One users, however, are reporting in that the back and home buttons (the capacitive buttons) beneath the touchscreen now seem to function much better.

Soon after the HTC One's release users began complaining that the back and home buttons often got stuck, and wouldn't work unless the phone was locked and unlocked again, or left alone for some period of time. Luckily, it seems that may have been fixed.

Here is a video showcasing the HTC One's capacitive button problem:

The update will be welcome news, but HTC One owners have something even bigger to look forward to in the coming weeks: Android 4.2.2. According to the head of HTC Russia, Android 4.2.2 will begin rolling out for HTC Ones in mid-July. This, of course, applies to unlocked HTC Ones. Carrier-tied HTC Ones, like those on T-Mobile, will have to wait until the network fills the upgrade with bloatware and approves it before distributing. The update should also bring a new version of HTC's Sense UI to the table.
