Fans are still reveling in the wake of the "How I Met Your Mother" season finale last month. They dropped the bomb. The big secret is out. Fans now know who the Mother is, so what's on the horizon? Is there reason to even watch the final season? Of course. There's only one season remaining. It will tie up all the loose ends. It will follow each character as they meet the Mother one by one, with Ted being last. We'll see the slap bet come to a close as well as a slew of flashbacks that will remind us of our favorite, most lovable "HIMYM" moments. Sure the 'mother' of all secrets is out, but that doesn't mean that we've seen the last of the gang. There's still plenty to look forward to.

Co-creator Carter Bays previously informed fans that the entire ninth season will revolve around Barney and Robin's wedding weekend, but it will only serve as a present day anchor, as the season will revert to flashbacks on a regular basis to tell the story.

"There's a time jump of some sort in every episode of this show, so you can rest assured the premiere will be no different," Bays said. "That being said, this next season in particular will feature some of the most non-linear episodes we've ever done."

Bays has also commented on the Mother, who will play a central role in the final season. Fans caught a quick glimpse of the coveted Mother during the season 8 finale, but Bays promises that they will become "much better" acquainted in the future.

Season 9 will be all over the place, but fans can rest assured that it will be a satisfying, full-circle conclusion to one of the best comedy sitcoms of all time. No one knows how it will end, but there are endless possibilities. Ted could meet the Mother and they could live happily ever after, an ending the show has always alluded to. Or it could present a major twist. The Mother could simply serve as a vessel that leads Ted to his true love. And furthermore, that love could Robin. Robin and Barney have yet to tie the knot. Or what if the entire show is Ted's pseudo reality? What if Barney is really Ted all along, and Ted sees Barney as a manifestation of who he truly desires to be: masculine, handsome, a Don of sorts etc. We're just going to have to wait.
