Microsoft has announced a free giveaway with the purchase of the Surface with Windows RT tablet.
For U.S. and Canadian customers, buyers of the Surface with Windows RT can receive a free Touch Cover, Touch Cover Limited Edition, or a Type Cover. The special offer is only valid throughout this month.
"Touch and Type Cover do much more than just protect and personalize your Surface RT. They let you get real work done," wrote Microsoft Surface General Manager Brian Hall on the Surface Blog. "With Office Home & Student 2013 RT pre-installed - which includes versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote - a keyboard that goes everywhere with you really is the perfect accessory for your Surface."
The Touch Covers for the Surface tablet are available in black, cyan, magenta, red, and white.
The tablet can be purchased at the Microsoft Store or retailers Best Buy and Staples. The Surface with Windows RT is currently priced at $499 for the 32GB tablet-only variant while the 64GB model is an additional $100.
A similar deal is also offered in Europe. Until June 30, the purchase of the Surface with Windows RT will include a free black, cyan, or white cover. The European offer is valid for the following markets: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
