Our favorite Mystic Falls vampires may be on summer break, basking in the glory of graduation and warm summer months, however, that doesn't stop fans from speculating as to what's going to happen next year at Whitmore college. There actions are just. Life in college for the vampires will be unforgettable, so why not look to the future with excitement? It's a big time in their lives, therefore in the lives of fans as well.

Now a fan made trailer will help fill our "Vampire Diaries" void and fuel the excitement for its return. The video was published just two weeks ago and has already accumulated more than 228,000 views. This isn't any old mock trailer with poor editing, sloppy compilations of previous seasons, strewn with cheesy stock footage. No, it's the real deal. If you didn't know it were fan-made, it could easily be mistaken for an official season 5 trailer. And that's what you want from a mock trailer, you want it to feel real. Check out the video below.

While looking ahead into the "Vampire Diaries" future, executive producer Julie Plec has been kind enough to inform fans of where the show's most beloved characters will be, both physically and emotionally, upon its return.

In more invigorating rumors, Plec dished as to how a newly humanized Katherine will adjust to her new life. Now she's left with practically no one in Mystic Falls to protect her, and many others seeking revenge. Plec revealed to TV Guide that it would now be Katherine "in need of protection much like the first Elena we met four years ago." Plec went on to say that Katherine would come to terms with her newfound humanity and judge whether or not she should remain human or risk death by taking the vampire venom.

"The Vampire Diaries" will return to The CW in October 2013.
