Real Madrid's manager position is currently vacant after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho. Many rumors have circulated regarding the possibilities that current Paris Saint-German boss Carlo Ancelotti could be the one to replace Mourinho. However, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has recently shut down that rumor.
During an interview on Spanish radio, Perez insisted that he had not made any formal offer to Ancelotti.
"As well as Ancelotti, we have had several coaches approach us through their agents, but we have not reached any agreement with anyone. Ancelotti can't say he has an agreement with Real Madrid, because he doesn't have one," said Perez. The club president did note that he would be "delighted" to sign the Italian.
The problem with signing Ancelotti is that he has a year remaining on his deal with Paris Saint-Germain. Ancelotti recently revealed an interest in joining Real Madrid and even stated that he met with PSG's top officials to work out an arrangement.
"We had a meeting and I asked to leave the club," Ancelotti said. "We now have to wait a few days for the club's response to decide my future and that of the club. I have options and Real Madrid is one of those. I will wait for the club's decision. We will decide together because my wish is to leave the club. It's not easy because I have a very good relationship with everyone. It's not the right time to explain my reasons -- and maybe I will never explain."
According to Tribal Football, Real Madrid would have to pay Ancelotti's €7.5 million compensation clause to get him out of the final year on his contract.
