"Killzone: Shadow Fall" is one of the major titles that has been announced for the PlayStation 4 and figures to be one of the first exclusive titles for the system when it launches later this year. And inpatient gamers who don't want to wait to play the digital copy of the game will not have to wait long after beginning their download to start playing.

Michiel van der Leeuw, technical director at Guerrilla, has revealed to the Official PlayStation Magazine that the game will be available to play after downloading the menu and first level.

"You're going to download a chunk of the game, get the menu and first level, and while you're playing the first level we can start downloading the second in the background...Then the third and so on," he said.

This certainly is interesting news, as it shows the remarkable technical innovation that the PlayStation 4 will be able to accomplish. It has been mentioned before that PlayStation 4 games will be playable while being downloaded, but this is the first time concrete details have backed up that statement. It should be pointed out "The Last of Us" will be playable after users download a little more than half the game onto the PlayStation 3. "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" will also have this ability on the PlayStation 4.

"Killzone: Shadow Fall" will likely act as a perfect showcase for Sony's technology when it comes out in this regard. While "The Witcher 3" will most likely have to download much of the open-world game before players will gain access to it, "Killzone: Shadow Fall" is much more linear. Players will not be able to travel all over the game, but rather will have to traverse one level at a time, allowing the PlayStation 4 to continue downloading the game with no interruption to the player.
