One of the perks that Neymar will receive as a Barcelona player is the chance to play with such superstars as Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez, and Andres Iniesta. However, the Brazilian star is also excited about the prospect of playing against one of the world's top players.
Neymar told reporters Wednesday that he relished the opportunity to play against Cristiano Ronaldo. "Cristiano Ronaldo is a great player," Neymar told the press. "He is skillful and it will be an honor to face him. Hopefully I can win."
Neymar could have found himself playing alongside Ronaldo. Real Madrid actually made a bid for the 21-year old, which was reportedly rejected twice. He wound up signing with Barcelona for over $30 million.
"I talked to God to give me wisdom and directed me the right way, so I chose Barcelona," Neymar stated about his decision. "I chose to join Barcelona because it was a wish that came out of my heart. Change is always difficult, but I hope to be able to adapt as soon as possible."
Neymar's new teammates have openly embraced his arrival.
"For us he would be a marvelous addition," Messi said about Neymar prior to the official announcement of the Brazilian's transfer. "He is the type of player who offers individual solutions different from the rest. He is a great player, who is very good in one-on-ones with opponents."
"Neymar is an amazing player; there is something different about him," added Xavi Hernandez. "For defenders, he is very tricky to contain and he is excellent when on his own in front of the keeper"
Neymar is expected to join Barcelona after he performs in the Confederations Cup for Brazil in June.
