Samsung Galaxy S3 owners on Verizon's network can now receive one of the most prolific updates put out by the carrier: Multi-Window and additional features. The carrier has officially announced it is rolling out the upgrade to users nationwide.

It's been long rumored, but software JZO54K.I535VRBMD3 is finally hitting Verizon Galaxy S3s.

"Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a software update designed to improve the performance of your Samsung GALAXY S III smartphone," the carrier stated. Longtime Verizon Android users, however, will definitely scoff at the remark, as the carrier has usually been last to update its devices.

The update weighs in at a hefty 130 MB, meaning users who download it should be tethered to a Wi-Fi network and have some juice in their batteries.

Android updates over the air usually go out in batches, so be sure to be patient as the carrier gets to all its clients.

The upgrade will introduce a host of new features, the most prolific of which is Multi-Window. By using Multi-Window, users can run two apps simultaneously on screen. Not all apps can run in Multi-Window, but it brings smartphone operating systems one step closer to the level of comfortability desktops operating systems have given us. The Galaxy S3 also gets a new gallery mode, and the camera will receive a "Best Shot" mode, which takes five burst shots and let you select the best one. Various connectivity issues are also addressed, along with interface navigation.

Verizon joins T-Mobile and Sprint as the only U.S. major national carriers to have Multi-Window support on their Galaxy S3s. AT&T hasn't yet commented on the matter.
