The National Football League (NFL) has made it official and moved the date of the draft to May instead of April, in 2014.

The 2014 NFL Draft will be held at Radio City Music Hall, in New York City from May 8th to May 10th. No decision has been made yet as to the date and location for the 2015 NFL Draft.

"A variety of alternatives are being explored, teams were told, including holding the draft at Radio City or at other locations, either in the New York area or in other cities," the league said in its statement.

The NFL moved the 2014 NFL Draft because of scheduling conflicts with Radio Music City Hall - who is hosting an Easter show on the dates the league wanted to use the venue.

The league office was looking into changing the start of the "league year," moving the start of the league year to before the NFL Scouting Combines, but has decided to keep the status quo with the combine set for Feb. 18-25, in Indianapolis, and the league year beginning on March 11 - the start of the of the free agency period. The league's annual meetings will be held in Orlando on March 23-26.

"Clubs will have available to them the same number of practice days that they currently have, and no changes in the offseason calendar are being considered that would reduce the number of practice days or the overall length of the offseason program," the league said.

The NFL is looking at re-configuring the NFL schedule - including possibly playing an 18-game season - creating a year-long continuum and giving the league a signature event every month of the year.

Moving the draft and the scouting combines would help accommodate for the Super Bowl to be played two weeks, putting it most years on President's Day Weekend.

"[All options] are all on the table," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said at a press conference at the end of the quarterly ownership meetings in Boston. "As I have said before, I think the structure of the season is something that we consistently reevaluate."
