Christopher Nolan has been rumored as a major contender to direct the next James Bond film. His candidacy has naturally created speculation about potential casting choices that could be made.

The director is known for choosing similar actors for his films; this could lead to many British stars ending up as the next Bond villains.

The first actor on the list could be Michael Caine. Caine has been in every single Nolan film since "Batman Begins" and is currently working on his next film "Interstellar." The actor has played small cameo roles that usually feature him as a wise man who guides the hero. With Judi Dench now absent from the series, Caine could serve as the Bond's guide like Dench's M did. Of course if Ralph Fiennes returns as M, Caine could be a side kick or even a villain.

Tom Hardy could also play a role in the new film as he has starred in two Nolan films. The actor has already played a wise cracking side kick in "Inception" and a villain in "The Dark Knight Rises." With Hardy's diversity and action experience, he could easily be the next villain in the film if Nolan recasts him.

Cillian Murphy has also worked with Nolan on four occasions and could potentially be a good villain as he has played scarecrow in the Batman trilogy to great acclaim. He has also recently worked on many Science Fiction and Action films including "In Time" and is reuniting with Wally Pister for his new action thriller "Transcendance."

Sony has not mentioned or confirmed any casting and whether Nolan will direct. Actresses Marion Cottillard, Olvia Wilde, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain are rumored as potential Bond girls.

The last James Bond movie "Skyfall" became the most successful Bond movie ever made and received five Academy Award nominations and won two, including one for Adele Adkin's Song "Skyfall."

Daniel Craig is slated to star in the next two Bond movies with John Logan currently writing the new script.
