Now that the initial shock from the season 8 finale has worn off, fans are curious to see how the final season of "How I Met Your Mother" will unfold. Now that that the Mother has been revealed, the underlying secret is no longer driving the series. The final season will tie up all the loose ends and put to rest one of the most successful comedy sitcoms of all time.

As previously reported, season 9 will take place in its entirety during Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin's (Cobie Smulders) wedding weekend extravaganza. Many fans were curious as to how an entire season could be sardined into such a tight timeframe, however, executive producer Carter Bays recently shared the secret to his magic with Entertainment Weekly.

"There's a time jump of some sort in every episode of this show, so you can rest assured the premiere will be no different," Bays said. "That being said, this next season in particular will feature some of the most non-linear episodes we've ever done." You know what that means: flashbacks, plenty of flashbacks. What better way to tie up a nine-season series?

However, there's one thing lingering on fans minds' as we roll into season 9, and that's how the Mother will fit into the series. Each episode will feature one of the show's main characters as they meet the Mother one by one, with Ted being the last to introduce himself. Cristin Milioti, the coveted Mother, will have plenty of face time throughout the season as TVLine confirmed that she would join the crew as a series regular.

And will Marshall (Jason Segel) fulfill his epic Slap Bet with Barney? Yes indeed. The final two slaps of the ongoing Slap Bet will be revealed in the final season.

Although it will be sad to see "How I Met Your Mother" go, it will be bittersweet. It's not over yet and there's still plenty to look forward to.

"How I Met Your Mother" will return to CBS in September 2013.
