An anonymous Sprint employee was shown a Verizon HTC One running Android 4.2.2 by an HTC rep, according to an unconfirmed forum post.

"HTC rep is at my location showing off the one. Asked about the 4.2.2 update and he pulled out a verizon one running it with notification controls in tow......

Looks like Verizon's will launch with 4.2.2 with us getting the update near there as well," said the poster. The thread has since been deleted, and a cached version has been removed, but the screenshot still lingers.

Whatever's going on, both HTC and Verizon have been very secretive about it. Previously, HTC tweeted that the HTC One would not be coming to Verizon. That tweet was quietly deleted, and both companies has refused to confirm or deny plans to release HTC's flagship phone on Verizon, the only major American carrier that doesn't currently offer it.

There have also been rumors that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the One will be released sometime in the next few weeks, but this is the first time we've heard of the update appearing on a Verizon model.

Verizon has an announcement scheduled for this afternoon at CTIA, so it's likely there will be some clarification soon. No word on what the announcement will be about, so it could be a restructured payment plan, but that doesn't seem big enough to hang a whole press conference on. Likely we'll see some kind of product announcement.

The HTC One features a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch 1920x1080 pixel widescreen Super LCD 3 display, a 2300 mAh Li-Po battery, a 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" camera with enhanced low-light sensitivity with 1080p HD video, up to 64GB of internal storage and runs Android 4.1.2.

Check back for the latest updates on the HTC One as they become available.
