Even amidst EA raining on their latest Nintendo Direct parade, Nintendo is soldiering on, promising a slate of exciting reveals for the next preview event. In anticipation of E3, the company has confirmed that a new Mario Kart, a new Super Smash Bros, and a new 3D Mario game would be revealed during the next Nintendo Direct.
The news was published via a Tweet from Nintendo of America. It states, "#IwataSays We will discuss new Smash Bros., 3D Mario game, Mario Kart and other Wii U titles in our #NintendoDirectNA before the start of E3."
Nintendo had previously announced that they would not be holding their annual press conference at E3, instead opting for a number of Nintendo Direct events before and after the conference. The latest one occurred late last week, and an official date has not been set yet for the next.
However, we do know that in the near future, Nintendo will be bringing some of its E3 games to Best Buy stores for people to demo on their own. Nintendo COO Reggie Fils-Aime and Shigeru Miyamoto have also confirmed they will speak at a "Wii U Software Showcase" prior to the opening of the E3 show floor.
This is all part of Nintendo's strategy to market directly to their fans, instead of through the standard press channels.
At the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, the company unveiled a standalone retail version of New Super Luigi U, gave The Wonderful 101 a release date, and announced a three game partnership with SEGA to publish a trio of Sonic the Hedgehog titles.
These announcements come hot on the heels of EA announcing that it had no further plans to release titles on the Wii U. To make matters worse, Nintendo angered many of its fans after revealing its plans to claim advertising revenue on YouTube videos containing footage from their games.
