A few months ago it was rumored that Christopher Nolan was on the top of the list to direct the new James Bond film. Now it has been reported that Nolan is in informal talks to direct the next film in the series.
According to the Daily Mail Christopher Nolan was approached to direct the next 007 movie. Nolan's representatives and the producers behind the James Bond pictures, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are currently in talks for the next film.
However the online journal stated that it could simply be meetings as Nolan is currently in pre-production on his new film "Interstellar" which will star Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain.
The Mail also reported that they spoke to Mendes about the process on "Skyfall" and he stated "it would be at least a year to 18 months of pre-production preparation and then six months of filming involved in Bond 24, and the producers want to shoot the follow-up soon after."
Mendes exited the series after his successful "Skyfall" due to his stage projects. He was on the verge of signing onto the follow up but after thinking it through he told reporters that the thought of directing another Bond film made him "physically ill."
Nolan recently directed "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Inception" which won four Academy Awards. He also worked on "The Prestige" and "Memento" as well the first two Batman movies. He recently produced "Man of Steel" which will be released in June and is directed by Zack Snyder. The film stars Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon and Amy Adams.
James Bond 24 is currently in pre-production with Daniel Craig slated to return as Bond. John Logan is currently writing the new script.
